There was no preschool last week, but we had to spend a couple of days wrapped up in not-so-fun errands (Like getting car issues fixed. Twice.) So we finally got a free day and I gave Pierce several choices of activities. He chose the zoo. Our little local zoo is situated on top of Mill Mountain, so it's chilly up there. However, it's open year round, and this time of year it is never crowded.
Instead of Pierce, I found myself accompanied by Buzz Lightyear.
This guy didn't look so cold.
The Zoo Choo wasn't running due to snow on the tracks, and not all the paths were adequately shoveled for the stroller. But we made our way through anyhow.
The twins were well bundled, and had pb+js to munch on in their snack traps for the visit.
We found one warm spot. The reptile house!
Isn't he cute?
The view was a little hazy - unusual for the winter months.
And of course, Buzz had to climb the tiger statue.
A final stop at the Discovery Center before heading home.
A very fun day. A little snow and chill? Nah, it won't keep us in!

OH man a year round zoo.. that would be awesome. But as cold as it has been around here we would spend most of our time in the reptile house lol
Now, how adorable is that Buzz Lightyear getup? I love it!
And, you get double Mommy Brownie Points for taking the kidlets to the zoo in winter. Looks like they really enjoyed the outing. :)
Buzz Lightyear looks warm and cozy in his suit. The zoo is a great idea. It looks like the animals needed visitors.
Brrr! But you're a great mom for getting them out to see fun stuff, snow or not!
I love Pierce's outfit! That is just too cute!! Looks like you had a great time even though it was a little chilly. Love going to the zoo.
The twins are getting so big!!
You are a brave human being to go to a zoo in the cold and snow! Looks like you had a lot of fun though. Thanks for sharing your day!!!
Oh my goodness~! I love the Buzz light year outfit.. Ben would love that~! Where did you find this..(annieptigger@aol.com).
I love going to zoo's..good job Mom in taking them, even if it's cold outside. Fresh air is good for the body.
Have a tiggeriffic day~! ta ta for now from Iowa
Nice escort, that "Buzz"! Its been a long time since I've been to the zoo in winter - thanks for sharing your photos of the excursion!
I always enjoyed the Zoo and took my young daughter often to watch the animals. I miss going because there isn't one close by, but it's great for the young ones to experience critters that they might otherwise not be able to see close up and in person ;-)
Sounds like you had a lovely day, even though it was cold :-)
I think I'm in love with Buzz Lightyear! The perfect person to zoom around the zoo with. It looks like a wonderful day was had by all, including all the animals! Ann
What a fun mom to go out and brave the snowy day. This is coming form a Texan. When it snows we bar the doors! :) I really would like to see some snow though!
Oh my...Buzz Light Year? Is Diego a thing of the past now?...:)JP
At least you were safe with Buzz Lightyear to your rescue if one of those wild animals were to get out and go after you! How cool is it that there is a zoo that is open year round near your house. My poor kids haven't been to a zoo yet because the closest zoo is probably 8 hours away.
Great pictures! Thanks for taking us to the zoo with you!
Tuesdays' Show & Tail!

Looks like Pierce... oh I mean Buzz had a lot of fun! Kyle and I one year went to the zoo when there was snow on the ground. It was so nice not being extremely hot and over crowded.
Hope you guys have a great week :)
Aww, Buzz looks like he had a blast!
Buzz Lightyear was awesome. And the zoo - while cold - looked like fun too! sandie
What a good idea for the days you're all cooped up! Looks lke Buzz had a great time! And think the twins liked their snacks. :)
