Recently I took the boys to the transportation museum, which is located in downtown Roanoke. First we checked out the model trains. I love that they have low windows so little boys can look in.
But they have higher windows for adults, and climbing little boys, too.
Plenty of old cars to examine.
And a large collection of matchbox cars.
I know 3 little boys who really like matchbox cars.
Needless to say, they loved playing at the matchbox car table, where all the little buildings open up with hidden cars inside.
The twins colored trains while Pierce worked train puzzles on the wall.
This was the first time I really let the twins loose to run through the museum.
I told Pierce to always hold hands with them and then I sat in the corner reading a magazine and eating bon bons (well, maybe someday, right?)
A collection of antique pedal cars.
Climbing on trains -
The engineer - doesn't he look happy?
The railyard -
Pierce climbed up in the caboose -
Waaaaaaay up!
Not much call for this machine in these parts -
One of my favorites - the old trolley
3 happy boys on an old trolley.
Until Reid got scared. But you've already seen that picture.
Reid felt much happier once he got on the playground!
Pierce went to space -
After a picnic lunch we had just one last stop before heading home.
Pierce wanted a penny souvenir.
I put in the money and he cranked and cranked.
A tiny memory of a very fun day -
Thanks for taking me along by sharing the pix! So, did you enjoy the Bon Bons?...:)JP

ReplyDeleteCan I come next time Lisa?
ReplyDeleteUs boys never grow out of that stuff...
I just love all these pictures, so I really can't pick a favorite today! You remind me of Kate Gosselin. I used to watch John & Kate Plus 8. Anyway, she was always taking her kids to such cool places!!! And I always thought what fun they had and how lucky they were.
ReplyDeleteGreat pictures! The boys look like they had a great time and it didn't look too crowded so it was probably nice for them to get to run around a bit!
ReplyDeleteWell, how much fun is that? I want to go too! :)
ReplyDeleteThis looks like so much fun and makes me miss the times when my son was this age. I love that old trolley....wishing I had one :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a fantastic place to take your boys! I can tell they had a blast. Young minds are like sponges and absorb so much information and are so inquisitive that this visit probably satisfied their curiosity! I bet they slept good that night!
ReplyDeleteLooks like a little boys dream. My hubs is still fascinated with model trains.
ReplyDeleteThey must've had a TON of fun!
ReplyDeleteThat looks like the perfect place for little boys.
ReplyDeleteAnd my son had lots of Matchbox cars too! I'm sure they're still in the attic.
