Dear Obnoxious Rooster with No Name,
I do realize it's your job to crow. And I admire your devotion and tenacity in doing your job. However, just a few things.
Sunrise currently starts at 7:00 am. Not at 3 am. Not at 4 am. Definitely not at 5 am. Also, I know you like to get up high to crow. But jumping on the porch railing just outside the twins' bedroom to crow at 5 am is NOT in the list of your job description. Trust me on this. And don't flap your wings at me young man!
I can still see you, even hiding behind that post! You need to move on and find a new place to crow.
Showing your backside is bad manners you know.
That's right, move on. Note the ineffective chicken wire put up on the porch in an attempt to curtail his ambitious porch crowing sessions....
Kinda reminds me of someone else that has a loud mouth and is very annoying....
Thinking that henceforth rooster with no name may be called Gilbert....
Perhaps its time for some Poulet Marengo, a la Gilbert?
ReplyDeletelol! You poor thing. I'd be tempted to strangle the pretty thing. Gilbert is the perfect name for him!
ReplyDeleteLOL! I think that is the perfect name for the rooster!
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year Lisa.
Thanks for the early morning laugh Lisa :) So funny about Gilbert - I have heard if they crow all night they are trying to 'get their groove on' Do you think the ladies were impressed? :) gloria
ReplyDeleteP.S. I still have the peppermint joe joes. I promise I will send them to you before next Christmas :)
From our flock we have one hen and one over-zealous rooster! I understand this post entirely!!
ReplyDeleteHe should definitely not crow right in front of anyone's room. At least the name you are considering isn't Soup!
ReplyDeleteBut, it is kinda in his job description. Just sayin'. :)
ReplyDeleteI don't know who started the FALSE saying that roosters crow at sun rise! Ours start at about 3 am too..but they are farther from the house thankfully!
ReplyDeleteHaha! Gilbert is a good name for him. At least you didn't think of naming him "Dinner"! ;)
ReplyDeleteOh goodness, I know it's not funny but to someone who hasn't experienced this, it kind of is. :)
ReplyDeleteGilbert would be the perfect name for that annoying loudmouth of a rooster! Don't you just want to kill it every morning?
ReplyDeleteOh, that cracked me up--Gilbert the Rooster!
ReplyDeleteHa, this puts a damper on the dream of country living that many of us share.
ReplyDeletelol... I know it isn't funny but that is a really cute post.
ReplyDeleteMy Hubs would take care of him using lead. Pet or not, he would be in our soup pot the next day.
Our neighbors have roosters. (They claim that they aren't for fighting but it sure is suspicious to have nothing but roosters....) Anyway, those roosters crow all. The. Time!
ReplyDeleteLOL!!! perfect!!!
ReplyDeleteHaaa Gilbert would be a PERFECT name for an annoying rooster! What an ornery lil thing.
ReplyDeleteI think Gilbert is the perfect name for your feathered alarm clock! Cute post, and I must admit, Gilbert is a handsome boy and does have a lot to crow about:)
ReplyDeleteEvery rooster I had was names Shooster...Shooster the rooster. While I encouraged them to come to the house and crow first thing in the morning TJ wasn't as thrilled with it as I was...lol. We were usually up by 3 am anyhow, and I enjoyed hearing him first thing in the morning. Beautiful rooster!
ReplyDeleteRooster does need to learn his timing...Lol
ReplyDeleteHmmm, some broiled chicken (rooster) with lemon pepper and asparagus sounds really good now. With new potatoes.
ReplyDeleteHe better watch his p's and q's!!
Haha! That pesky rooster needs to take a hike. Sleep is a top priority! Love the connection to that other annoying critter.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year!
Grrrr. Ooooh I could strangle things that go bump in the night....or crow...or howl....
ReplyDeleteI can't believe you got up to take pics. I would have done a lot more than just take pictures;))
Gilbert is a nice name. Another I had thoughtt of was Stew.LOL
ReplyDeleteGreat post,I think the rooster is pretty,or pretty regal. I can only imagine how annoying the crowing is at all hrs of the morning ! Blessings Jane
ReplyDeletehaha...but he is cute ;) ;)
ReplyDeleteLOL, I think the name suits him!
ReplyDeleteHe's a pretty rooster though! Is he your only rooster? You don't need them for eggs but you need him for babies.
ReplyDeleteGilbert is a fabulous name!
ReplyDeleteThat noise would bug me too.
Many a rooster is minus a head for that very thing. If I sound harsh it's because I have been there. This conversation was delightfully funny though.
ReplyDeleteThat rooster needs an alarm clock --so that he won't crow until daylight... (Even that is too early for me!!!! ha)
ReplyDeleteBUT--the rooster is pretty and he knows it... Love the way roosters are just so prissy and cocky....
Hugs,
Betsy
He would do it once and my hubby would take care of it! You have patience. sandie
ReplyDeleteToo funny! Is this what I have to look forward to? Hope to get my first chickens this spring.
ReplyDeleteI wonder if roosters have heard the old saying "A chicken in every pot"
Oh, that's funny, but doesn't sound fun to deal with! My husband had a very mean rooster as a child--Peebert. :)
ReplyDeleteLOL, oh no!! You're right on the comparison of the rooster and Gilbert! I never did like him...haha.
ReplyDeleteHe's so purdy though!
ReplyDeleteLoved this post-it put a smile on my face : )
ReplyDeleteTee hee hee
ReplyDeleteWe have a silly rooster too!
love
tweedles
That's the perfect name!
ReplyDeleteGranted, I don't think your Gilbert will make a mint off his annoying voice.
Stopping by from the Mom Loop! As always, you crack me up! We have a rooster like that around here... but to me it's the neighbors goats that drive me nuts. I always think one of my kids is crying!
ReplyDeleteAlready following you through GFC.
Oh my goodness, you are much kinder than I would be. I would likely consider a rooster relocation program.
ReplyDeleteSo funny (for those of us not hearing the rooster doing his thing so early in the morning)!!
