Dear Obnoxious Rooster With No Name

Dear Obnoxious Rooster with No Name,

I do realize it's your job to crow.  And I admire your devotion and tenacity in doing your job.  However, just a few things.

Sunrise currently starts at 7:00 am.  Not at 3 am.  Not at 4 am.  Definitely not at 5 am.  Also, I know you like to get up high to crow.  But jumping on the porch railing just outside the twins' bedroom to crow at 5 am is NOT in the list of your job description.  Trust me on this.  And don't flap your wings at me young man!

I can still see you, even hiding behind that post!  You need to move on and find a new place to crow.

Showing your backside is bad manners you know.

That's right, move on.  Note the ineffective chicken wire put up on the porch in an attempt to curtail his ambitious porch crowing sessions....

Kinda reminds me of someone else that has a loud mouth and is very annoying....
Thinking that henceforth rooster with no name may be called Gilbert....

P.S. I still have the peppermint joe joes. I promise I will send them to you before next Christmas :)

  6. He should definitely not crow right in front of anyone's room. At least the name you are considering isn't Soup!

  7. But, it is kinda in his job description. Just sayin'. :)

  8. I don't know who started the FALSE saying that roosters crow at sun rise! Ours start at about 3 am too..but they are farther from the house thankfully!

  9. Haha! Gilbert is a good name for him. At least you didn't think of naming him "Dinner"! ;)

  10. Oh goodness, I know it's not funny but to someone who hasn't experienced this, it kind of is. :)

  11. Gilbert would be the perfect name for that annoying loudmouth of a rooster! Don't you just want to kill it every morning?

  12. Oh, that cracked me up--Gilbert the Rooster!

  13. Ha, this puts a damper on the dream of country living that many of us share.

  14. lol... I know it isn't funny but that is a really cute post.

My Hubs would take care of him using lead. Pet or not, he would be in our soup pot the next day.

  15. Our neighbors have roosters. (They claim that they aren't for fighting but it sure is suspicious to have nothing but roosters....) Anyway, those roosters crow all. The. Time!

  17. I think Gilbert is the perfect name for your feathered alarm clock! Cute post, and I must admit, Gilbert is a handsome boy and does have a lot to crow about:)

  18. Every rooster I had was names Shooster...Shooster the rooster. While I encouraged them to come to the house and crow first thing in the morning TJ wasn't as thrilled with it as I was...lol. We were usually up by 3 am anyhow, and I enjoyed hearing him first thing in the morning. Beautiful rooster!

  20. Hmmm, some broiled chicken (rooster) with lemon pepper and asparagus sounds really good now. With new potatoes.

He better watch his p's and q's!!

  21. Haha! That pesky rooster needs to take a hike. Sleep is a top priority! Love the connection to that other annoying critter.

  25. He's a pretty rooster though! Is he your only rooster? You don't need them for eggs but you need him for babies.

  26. Gilbert is a fabulous name!

That noise would bug me too.

  27. Many a rooster is minus a head for that very thing. If I sound harsh it's because I have been there. This conversation was delightfully funny though.

  28. That rooster needs an alarm clock --so that he won't crow until daylight... (Even that is too early for me!!!! ha)

BUT--the rooster is pretty and he knows it... Love the way roosters are just so prissy and cocky....

    Hugs,
    Betsy

  30. Too funny! Is this what I have to look forward to? Hope to get my first chickens this spring.
I wonder if roosters have heard the old saying "A chicken in every pot"

  31. Oh, that's funny, but doesn't sound fun to deal with! My husband had a very mean rooster as a child--Peebert. :)

  32. LOL, oh no!! You're right on the comparison of the rooster and Gilbert! I never did like him...haha.

  35. That's the perfect name!
Granted, I don't think your Gilbert will make a mint off his annoying voice.

  36. Stopping by from the Mom Loop! As always, you crack me up! We have a rooster like that around here... but to me it's the neighbors goats that drive me nuts. I always think one of my kids is crying!

    Already following you through GFC.

  37. Oh my goodness, you are much kinder than I would be. I would likely consider a rooster relocation program.

  38. So funny (for those of us not hearing the rooster doing his thing so early in the morning)!!
