When I look at this, I see all the excitement in the faces of the participants. It must have been such a special day - one that had to be preserved for everyone on film.
I zoomed in a bit to get a closer look at the dogs, the horses, and the joyfulness of the day.
I don't know the details of the event - whether a fox was hunted or whether they were just out for a ride with their horses and dogs. I don't know if someone took a tumble over a fence, or if the ladies had a contest to see who made the best pie. But I do know I seem to have inherited the horse loving gene that goes way back in my family. A part of me knows that this day is something I'm sorry to have missed - no doubt it was full of wonderful adventure! And I suspect that whoever took this picture and saved it all those years would be pleased as punch to see it shared with my readers today. Because it was, indeed, a day to remember.

Oh Lisa I love this photo I have no idea what they are doing either but they certainly look happy. I think you should find out more if you can maybe who some of the people are. Oh I just love old photos for there beauty and for the mystery. B

My Mom loved horses and always went to dude ranches. She would have loved a family that shared her interests. How fun.

That is a neat photo, it is good that you are making copies as they can be destroyed so easily.
How wonderful to have this photo! It looks like a great adventure was about to start. And so many people were there! It's fun to see our family through photos like this. I think it helps us feel more connected.

Yes, good to make a copy of that pic. In fact if you can, make digital copies of all of them. That way you will have a back up copy of it all.

Hi Lisa, Great old picture and you enhanced it nicely. Is your grandmother still alive? If so (or you should sit down with family members who are still alive) you should learn all of this history now (and write it down).... You'll be sorry when you are my age --trying to find out family history and nobody is alive to talk about it.... Just my suggestion!!!!!

That is so awesome! I love old photos. For as long as I can remember, when I visit my grandma I always pull out her photo albums and look through them.
