Vikings. I'm not sure what Vikings have to do with Earth Day. Ideas?
A hoola hoop area, along with bouncy houses.
Cars with wind mills
Cars with electricity.
And of course, plenty of veggies and fruits for sale.
Always one of my favorite Roanoke festivals. Readers, do you have a favorite festival where you live?

It looks like a wonderful idea although I've no idea what a Viking has to do with it, other than look striking.
I used to enjoy going to the Covered Bridge festival but haven't been for a very long time. Perhaps I should change that this year.

I have just started looking for my plants for in my garden this year. I am having a heck of a time finding peppermint seeds. I finally found a plant and put it in the ground yesteday.
Earth Day looks like something I would very much enjoy.

I love any festivals but the one I love is one in Hamilton Ontario it is called the Super Crawl Art Festival and it is blocks and blocks of artists and their work. I hope to go again this year. I love seeing what an artist has in his head and transforms for all to see. Great shots Lisa. B

We LOVE the Florida Strawberry Festival! It's oodles of fun. Only down side is there is WAY too many people there like 10X more than Disney :O

The crawfish festival used to be my favorite, but it's too hot to enjoy when they hold it at the end of May. I have no idea why a Viking is part of Earth Day.:/ Nice pics though!

Livie and I always love going to the Downtown Des Moines Farmers' Market. Very festive, and has large crowds, music, food, etc.
This looks like fun! I love the "windmill powered" car! The Vikings seem SO weird!! Maybe they were the roaming villains because they plundered the earth?
I had to laugh at the viking! Not sure how he fits in with Earth Day, but oh well haha.

Not sure what a Viking has to do with Earth Day ---but maybe, he was there for entertainment for the kids... Festivals where kids can get an education are so important. Glad you went.
We don't do festivals anymore --but did when the kids were little.

Our Gateway to the West Celebration is in early summer -- and always lots to see, eat and photo. The weather looks marvelous for a day out with the boys.

A Viking at an earth day celebration seems like something you'd see on Monty Python! I also wonder why he was there!
If I was a kid it would would be hard to resist all of the fun activities-and as a grownup I'd go crazy buying plants!
Our farmer's market started up last weekend-it's always fun to go too!

Grandin Road was always one of my favorite branches when I was an Ops Consultant for the bank, Baby Girl. One year there was a robbery there and thanks to a few of the locals, they caught him, pinned him down until the PD arrived!!!...:)JP
Looks like a neat festival. We really need to explore Roanoke more. It's just an hour away.
Altavista has the Uncle Billy's Day festival in late spring every year. This year it's May 31-June 1. Lots of craft vendors, food, music, animals, carnival, car show, beer garden, etc.
We have The Cold Creek festival in our area. I always enjoy the games day for the children. They close the main street and have all sorts of games like sack races, and a bed race where the kids push beds on wheels down the street.
My grandparents live right off of memorial near the fire station so I used to go there as a kid. Now my art buddy greg osterhaus lives near grandin so I get over there once in awhile. If I had to live in town that would be high on my list of places.
Although we live close to the famous Bourbon Trail of KY, our town celebrates all things cow in September each year. Crazy!

I'm not sure that I know the festivals in my area yet, but in my hometown there is an annual art festival which is crazy wonderful!
I think it was a very fun day!
