The boys were impressed with all the planes and space exhibits. They loved getting to go inside a few planes.
The Air and Space Museum was just as crowded as the Museum of Natural History had been. I confess all those people were overwhelming for me.
But it didn't bother the boys. They waited their turn patiently for a chance at some of the hands on activities.
The rockets and such seemed huge to me, so I can't imagine how magical they must've seemed for little boys.
Pierce was excited to have a chance to blow some vacation money at the gift shop. My parents were kind enough to give each of the boys some spending money for our trip.
Cort and Reid each bought a metal airplane. Pierce bought a little robotic toy that winds up and then squiggles across the floor shooting sparks along the way. He adores this little robot - he showed it to every stranger we met after that! As for me - I was a little disappointed that none of them wanted to buy some space ice cream - I love that stuff!

What no space ice cream?:) What a great way to spend the summer they will not forget this. B
Thr Air and Space Museum is always the only museum my husband cares to see when in DC. I really like it too. Oh, and as for the gift shops..... the only thing I have ever brought home is an astronaut ink pen and if I ever lose it, just kill me... because I love it that much.
That was one of my favorite places when we went to DC years ago, I know the boys were happy to see all the airplanes and space stuff close up.
That had to be a very enjoyable day for the boys!!
I love the space ice cream too. It looks like you had a great visit to the museum.
Awesome!! One of the many places I would love to visit!!
Space Ice Cream! :)
I'm glad you had a nice visit. I'd like i there too, I do believe.
Sounds like a great day for the boys!
how cool for them.
You had such a great, interesting holiday. The museums look wonderful! I don't know what space ice-cream is, but it sounds sweet and I probably would have voted for buying it. :-)
I bet it was a magical experience for the boys. They are learning so much and appear to be drinking it all it. I would love to see that Amelia Earhart display--I've been fascinated by her since I was a little girl.
What is space ice cream?
Love seeing the wonder in their eyes.
Wonderful!
So very glad you all had a great time. :)
We want to take our boys to DC someday. It's been so long since we've been. So much history and cool stuff to see. I want to go when it is off season. do. not. like. crowds.
I know I would love that little robot as well!!! This is one place we have never been, and our friends tell us it is spectacular! So I can only imagine how excited the boys were! Your pictures really have a big WOW factor today! NOW, what exactly IS space ice-cream and why did the boys not want any??
Years ago, when I was last in DC, I went to the Air & Space Museum along with that of Natural History...those have always been my favorites! I wonder which one will be the astronaut!...:)JP
I'm happy the boys enjoyed their visit so much. Glad they got to pick something special from the gift shop, too.
It looks like a fantastic place to visit... many thanks for sharing.

You could have bought your own space ice cream since they didn't want any. No sharing! :)
So glad the boys enjoyed it as much as they did.
Those are going to make some wonderful memories for the boys. I sure would love to visit the Air and Space museum. Happy Wednesday!
Boy heaven. :)
Great fun for kids and educational too. Have you seen the newer museum out near Dulles?
