Dogs on Parade

Happy St. Patrick's Day!  We went to the local parade this past weekend, and I took a ton of pictures.  I thought I'd share some of the dogs we saw.  They were all so cute.  The boys wanted to pet every single one - and there were hundreds!
Some of the dogs were part of canine organizations, like the Irish Water Spaniels.

But most of the dogs were from local pet rescues, and were up for adoption.

I confess that poodles are not my favorite dog breed, but I was charmed by this determined toy poodle that carried her dish the entire parade.

I wanted to scoop this sweet three-legged rescue up and bring her home.  She was so happy to be hopping along in the sunshine.
There is a local greyhound rescue that walked through.  I love seeing the greyhounds.  They are such beautiful animals.
We still miss our Scooter very much, and hope that even two months later, he might turn up somehow.

In the meantime, we loved getting a glimpse of so many happy dogs, and hope they find their forever homes soon.

Readers, do you have a favorite dog breed?

  1. The dogs are all adorable. I hope they find good homes after showing off in the parade. I'm sure your boys would have liked to take them all home!

  2. It was nice weather for the parade unlike this morning, two hour delay at school. Somebody's dogs came through the farm yesterday or maybe they were stray, came through the farm and Aggy went nuts but was in her dog run. I could see her chasing after them and who knows how far she would go and maybe get lost.

  3. Very cute pictures and I'm so sorry about Scooter. Harriet, our wire hair dachshund is the only dog I've ever owned. Like you boys, I love them all!

  4. Looks like a fun day! Love the greyhound. I've been reading up on dog breeds, thinking of getting a friend for Fergus, and greyhound was suggested for living in small spaces. Guess they like to lounge when not running like the wind.

  5. How fun!! My dad's mom had a poodle the whole time we were growing up and he was quite a character. :)

I love that this one's carrying the dish, lol

  6. Rhodesian Ridgebacks are my favorite breed. But I do love most all dogs.

  7. We've had a few coon hounds -- not for the timid.

I think a greyhound would make a lovely choice.

I too hope Scooter returns. xo

  8. I'm not really a dog person, but I do like boxers when their ears haven't been cut.

  13. Hello to you and Happy St. Patrick's Day. Be sure to wear your green today!!

It's too COLD, icy, and very foggy here on the Plateau this morning to be out looking for that Pot of Gold. SO-I'll just stay inside and enjoy our fireplace.

Favorite dog breed, huh??? Well--I loved our Cocker Spaniel... If I ever get another dog, it will not be a tiny one which YAPS.... ha

    Have a great day.
    Hugs,
    Betsy

  20. Awww, the poodle with the cup in his mouth is so cute. This parade reminds me of our Mardi Gras dog parade a few weeks ago.

  24. I'm still hopeful for Scooter too. These are the cuuutest parade participants! Ours is a (mostly) English Springer Spaniel & she's been wonderful. I suppose I have a soft spot for rescue dogs (as ours was), no matter the breed:)

  27. That was a great idea on the part of the rescue people to show off the pups that need a home in a parade! I'm not a poodle person either but that was so cute! I have a fondness for most all dogs. I really do enjoy my corgi Jazz as well as my West Virginia Brown Dog Two. I really hope that your sweet pup comes home. It can happen as I'm sure you know. I've heard lots of stories of it happening.

  30. That 3 legged doggie is cute! Isaak has a stuffed animal dog that looks like that one.

I'm with you on the poodle. I'm not a fan of them, but it does look charming holding its dish.
