This is one of those recipes that has been in my index card file for about 15 years, and that every once in a while I have to make. It sort of melts in your mouth. I got it from a secretary at a college I worked at years ago. She brought it to a potluck, and I just HAD to have the recipe. She was kind enough to share.
Ingredients:
1 box yellow cake mix
3/4 cup oil (okay to substitute applesauce for half the oil, I always do)
1 cup buttermilk
1/2 cup sugar
4 eggs
1 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup chopped pecans
1 cup raisins
4 tsp. cinnamon
1 cup confectioners sugar
1 tbsp. vanilla
3 tsp. milk
Combine cake mix, oil, buttermilk, sugar and eggs. Pour into a greased sheet cake pan. Mix together the brown sugar, pecans, raisins and cinnamon. "Swirl" into cake. Bake at 300* for 1 hour.
Mix confectioners sugar, vanilla, and milk. Drizzle over cake while still hot.
This is also a great recipe for a brunch! Enjoy.

This cake sounds delicious, especially with your cup of tea. Oh how I'm now craving something sweet this morning :)

Oh my goodness, yummy and what a lovely photo too! Enjoy your weekend, and your goodies!
It sounds delicious!!
Sounds wonderful, Lisa... We've been dieting this week (today is the last day) ---so everything on the internet this week seems to be talking about some kind of delicious foods... ha ha
I apologize if you are the one who gave me this recipe but IF not, you might be interested in it... Mix a box of Angel Food mix with a 20 oz can of crushed pineapple in its own juice. Just stir it by hand. It turns fluffy. Once it's mixed up, pour it in a greased 9x12 baking dish and bake at 350 for 30 minutes... (You can add topping such as confect.. sugar--or something.. But they say it is good just as it is.) I have the ingredients and will try it next week.
Have a great weekend.
Hugs,
Betsy

You are making my mouth water.. I should make this when my Daughter and Gkids come visiting.
Years ago, I told a blog bud that a large group and I had chipped in and rented a bus, and we were all heading over to her house for a recipe she posted! This is another one that would be worth the long trip across the country! Looks great. :)
Sounds and looks absolutely delicious, I'm going to make this today!!

Yummy! I love desserts like this--minus the nuts. :-) That's a lovely cup and saucer in the photo, and that little spoon is beautiful!
The cake looks absolutely delish :)
I make a coffee cake that's sort of similar. It has pie filling in with yellow cake, milk, eggs, and oil.
This is what I am going to make for my daughter after her concert this weekend. I already know it will make her a very happy young lady. :)
