One day I heard Bo barking on the porch. He is a bird dog through and through. The only time he isn't obsessing about birds, he's obsessing about ways to get on the school bus. But he doesn't usually bark on the porch.
I looked out the kitchen window. It took me a second to see why he was barking. I was so surprised!
She or he has a band. So I guess this pigeon's homing instinct got a little derailed. Eventually, it safely moved on to bigger and better places.
I have seen homing pigeons advertised on craigslist. How do they sell a homing pigeon? Wouldn't it just keep going back to the owner? Might not be the best purchase to make.
Oh goodness, probably not the best place to land. We had one visit us a couple years ago. Apparently they will land in places for a rest, food and water, before they return to their flight plan again!
Hi Lisa, How cute your dog is, especially with his pretty face looking at the pigeon? How did it land in your porch? Is your dog a friendly one with birds? I wonder... Have a blessed Fall Season with your dear family, Lisa!! Greetings from Poet Starry.

ReplyDeletesuch a cute shot of your bird dog!
ReplyDeleteBo would go crazy here. Pigeons and Doves everywhere. Every so often it's time to clear em all out there gets to be so many.
ReplyDeleteThat is Excellent! I like this story a lot.
ReplyDeleteGood dog, and do hope the pigeon got on his way.
ReplyDeleteThat's a great picture. Now you have to think up a meme to go with it.
ReplyDeleteGlad it moved on! Our dogs would do the same thing. They get crazy when something walks/flies/crawls onto the property.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great find.It was just taking a break from it's flight.
ReplyDeleteFree entertainment for Bo!

ReplyDeleteLisa: I had to look two or three times before I caught on. Long day, but a fun photo of the dog! :)
ReplyDeleteThat's so funny! I can see why Bo was barking.
ReplyDeleteWhen I lived in GA. we had a neighbor cat that liked to hang out by our back door. She used to bring us dead roaches. HA
That would be a surprise! We often get them in our sunporch when the kids leave the screen door open. That's always fun!
ReplyDeleteThat doggy is silly and happy!!!
