I don't get my hair cut very often. Like twice a year, tops. It hadn't been cut since last May. I was feeling really shaggy. I started trying to get an appointment but every time the appointment rolled around something happened. My kids got sick. My stylist's kid got sick. My stylist got sick. You get the idea. It took two months to finally get an appointment that worked. I decided to go all out and get color done too. I get so tired of dyeing out the gray myself.
When Cort got of the bus, he gave me a really strange look. I thought something was terribly wrong. He said, "Mom? Why is your hair black?". It wasn't really black, but it was much darker than usual. I said, "Well, I dyed it." He looked at me curiously. "Mom? Can I dye my hair?" I said, "Well, what color did you want to dye it?". He surprised me by promptly saying, "Blue!"
Now it just so happened that a few years ago I found a bunch of spray in, wash out hair color on Halloween clearance for 10 cents a can. I knew it would come in handy one day. Cort sure was pleased to sport blue hair for an evening.
Readers, have you ever dyed your hair in crazy colors?
I haven't (yet!) but my daughter used to do hers... green doesn't work well on dark blonde hair unless you like the old mold look, btw.
ReplyDeleteGood Morning, Lisa.
ReplyDeleteYour hair looks pretty. It always makes me feel better to have my hair trimmed. Once when I dyed my hair brown, it turned maroon!
So cute that Cort wanted to dye his hair too! Love his photo.
Have a great day.
I LOVE both of them. Nice colour Lisa. Hug B
ReplyDeleteYou have gray hair? horrors :-) Ya'll look good. I believe that according to the rapper Missy Elliot...you got your hair DID....
ReplyDeleteThe same thing happened to me at the end of the year, couldn't make the haircut thing happen and then I got it short just in time for the arctic temperatures.
ReplyDeleteI might not have recognized you if I saw you out with your new hair, most of the time I am on a mission when out in public and don't recognize people anyway. I am over due for a trip to town after this weather. School still 2 hour late today, it may actually happen!
I'm thinking the blue might be my color. I did black for a play years ago and everyone thought I was covering grey. Hard to avoid for me, but I still have color.
ReplyDeleteI love your hair! It looks awesome! I never did crazy hair color, my mom would never allow it, but a lot of my friends did, and I loved it :-) I would love to do a pink dip on my ends :-)
ReplyDeleteI'll bet your son was thrilled that you let him do that! I've never done anything but a few highlights in my hair. I wonder what the cows would think if I showed up in the barn with blue or pink hair some day?
ReplyDeleteWhen my Mum started going grey she tried to dye her hair but it always turned out an orange colour on the grey bits, so I shall never ever dye my hair to cover the grey. But when I was in my thirties I did have a bunch of years when I went blonde!
ReplyDeleteHe's super cute in blue. Of course, he would be cute in any color. You know, I used to dye, but I've got these genetics where my hair was blonde in my early 20's and is now dark brown. By the time my father passed away (in his 50's), his hair was almost black and I anticipate mine will do the same. Who needs dye when it naturally changes? (Yeah, I pluck instead. Ouch.)
ReplyDeleteYour hair looks amazing!!! Cort is so cute! I've not had any crazy hair colors, but I've had my fair share of crazy haircuts since I went to cosmetology school and we all did that.
ReplyDeletehow cute. you were a good sport to let him try it out. never dyed my hair. ever.
ReplyDeleteThe blue is cute! I've never colored my hair and I don't plan on starting.
ReplyDeleteYour hair looks really lovely Lisa - and what a great mom you are to not only say yes to blue hair, but to have the spray-on stuff at the ready!!! I would have screamed "no" at my kids I'm sure - but back then it just wasn't done, not even on Halloween! BTW - they're in their 50's now, they can do whatever they want with hair and anything else, haha!
ReplyDeleteMary -
This post is priceless! Thanks for making me smile!
ReplyDeleteHair colors are so cool these days. My favorite color is lavender. But I'm sticking with dark brown.
ReplyDeleteI always like the various red shades that can be bought. I got pretty good at being able to identify the box number by shade and refereed to some of the women at work by that number. 57 was the most often used one if I remember correctly.
ReplyDeleteBlack is hawt though :)
So have you gotten a report of how it went at school with the new blue hair yet?
As I happily married man, let me say you are a fine looking woman. Your husband is a lucky guy.
ReplyDeleteNo, I have never dyed my hair a weird color. That would be an absolutely certain way to get a serious beating the next time you went to town. It's ok for little boys, though!
;-)
Love your hair.
ReplyDeleteHis was cute blue, but glad it will wash out. LOL
I have had some crazy colors of like a cranberry red and some stripes of different colors. It was a lot of fun!
You look beautiful, Lisa. Love the color too.
ReplyDeleteCort is so adorable, and you're a good sport. :)
xoxo
You look BEAUTIFUL and I love his blue hair!
ReplyDeleteNice hair, Lisa and Curt! Linda@Wetcreek Blog
ReplyDeleteYou look great, Lisa, and so does Cort! I have never dyed my hair. I did have highlights done a couple of times years ago, but I discovered that I really do not look good with lighter hair. My stylist says there's something she could put on my hair that would cover the gray but not really change the color of my hair? Maybe someday. :-) I think it's great when people express their creativity with hair color--like Cort. :-) I would probably only dye a strip of hair purple. LOL
ReplyDeleteYou are the coolest mom every...and he is precious. I like your new look...
ReplyDeleteHow fun, you both look great, and the color blue is very cool for a young boy!
ReplyDeleteI just color the gray. LOVE the blue though. I'll bet he loved that!
ReplyDeleteLOL, love that kid! And your hair looks great.
ReplyDeleteAww he looks cute with blue hair. And your haircut and color looks nice!
ReplyDeleteYour hair looks so pretty! Blue is my favorite color; I always wondered what my hair would look like if I dyed it that color. Instead, I had the pleasure of seeing your son's hair instead--how cool! You are simply the best mom around... Did he enjoy it for the day?
ReplyDeleteNo, but your kids sound so fun with the questions they come up with! I'm starting to feel a little like David Lee Roth from 1980, so I go to my hair stylist (he refuses to be called a barber) tomorrow. :)
ReplyDeleteYou look glamorous - totally!
ReplyDeleteyeppers, last year i put blue in my hair - sometimes spray, sometimes powder . . and many of my students did, too - it became an interesting trend . . . this school year we all showed up with our "regular" hair . . . it's the style statement of the moment . . . with us, you never know.
very tolerant parents . . . giggle.
Your hair looks terrific! love the cut. And, no crazy colors, but once I got highlights that looked more grey than anything and had to have my hair redyed the next day back to it's normal brunette... although it came out closer to black, and I looked cartoonish.
ReplyDeleteYour hair is a beautiful color,, Mommy put some color on her hair a week ago,,, It had been a long time since doing it before,,, So mommy gave it 20 minutes,,, '

ReplyDeleteMy actor-son was fuscia one year. Another black with turquoise stripes. He lived with his dad then. I helped him with the stripes! He looks more normal now!
It looks beautiful! And the blue hair is cute and spunky looking.
ReplyDeleteHi Lisa,
ReplyDeleteYou look beautiful with your new hairstyle,
and so does Cort. I know the blue in Cort's hair
will be temporary. I have dyed my hair for many years,
although with different colours...
Now, the white hair looks like blonde...
