I mentioned earlier this year that we're extending the garden area and redoing the fencing. The first estimate for fencing was about $500. We realized we needed to find a cheaper way. So Paul started bringing home pallets.
It's not the fastest way to put up a fence, but it's coming along. The only limitation is how many pallets can be brought home at a time! I think it'll look neat once it's all done.

I have a mountain of them, come over and pick them up!
Looks like mine, I can't tell but if he puts something under them like a piece of brick or even sit them on a length of old pipe, they won't rot or get termites as bad. Mine have been up for several years and so far no deer have tried to jump it. I have old roof nailed along the bottom to keep small animals out but coons still climb over. I call it a palletsade.
Neat idea. I also see fort-building opportunities for the boys...
Nice idea, bring a few by my way
It will look neat! Travis made a crate out of those to ship a sculpture. Then he found out the cost to ship it. YIKES! He just drove it there, and back.
What a clever idea!!! It will be better at keeping out the critters too.....good job!
Good idea! Paul sounds like Larry--he'll figure out some way to do what needs to be done. Larry has been redoing a lot of the fence on our property. It's a rail fence mostly just for looks. But he had to replace some of the poles, and it got expensive. He wanted a way, too, to protect his truck from the mowing next door that threw up dirt and rocks on his truck. So he bought some lattices and pieced them together and put them on the fence. It looks nice.
I love pallets - I think this is a fabulous idea
Pallets are good for SO many things - nice idea!
The pallets are a great idea. That should work great on keeping things out!
That will work and if it is like here in Canada you can get them for free. It will look neat. Hug B
That certainly will work and keep EVERYTHING out!!...:)JP
What a brilliant idea! We had a bear, I think with cubs, through our back yard a few days ago. Not sure I'll bother with a garden!
Good idea! But, how long will it take you to do that? I hope before all of the plants are blooming with fruit!
I bet it will look great, and you can put hooks on them to hang things up!!! Such a better option!
Great idea!!
What a creative idea!
I like Sunnybrook Farm's word: palletsade!
Good to find a cost efficient vway of doing the fencing.
By the way, do be careful and check the pallet for termites. My house attacked by termite. We suspected it's from the pallet that we used for fencing the garden as we didnt check them properly.
Great work indeed..it will take a while but for sure you'll get there..
Good luck w/the fence. Looks like it's coming along. :)
I think its a wonderful idea!

You have the best ideas; this should keep the little critters out :)
Very cool. Especially if there is a way to secure them like a unified wall. You guys probably have some ideas on that already. But the wood is free so why not? It's worth several trips. ;)
