I didn't get a huge yield (next year I'll plant more) but I did get a couple of jars of candied jalapenos. They are delicious! Perfect on cheese and crackers.

Spicy Stuff - Candied Jalapenos
Last Spring I picked up a few jalapeno plants at a flea market. I gave two to a neighbor, and kept two for myself. Peppers tend to come in fairly late in my garden. But I've had enough jalapenos to make salsa several times. And a few weeks ago I picked a bunch to make candied jalapenos.
I'd never made candied jalapenos before (I often make jalapeno jelly though). Cooking up jalapenos kind of makes the kitchen smell like it's been maced. I love jalapenos and most spicy things, so it's worth it.

ReplyDeleteDo you cut up the peppers first?Do they taste similar to the jelly? Larry loves spicy foods and planted some jalepenos this year. He got some nice ones. I''m going to share this with him. Me? Too spicy. LOL

ReplyDeleteThere is nothing that you can't cook! I used to love spicy foods when I was your age. But now, like most geezers, cannot stomach it. Enjoy! I read that spicy foods are good for the digestion. Hope you have a great weekend!

ReplyDeleteWe do like spicy around here. I have serious issues cutting up jalepeno's though....they take my breath away so I give that job to someone else. The jelly sounds delish!

ReplyDeleteMy husband loves hot pepper. I remember baking jalapenos in the oven with a cheese mixture and how strong the smell was!
