A Day in Baltimore

We headed north for a couple of days last week.  We spent a day in Baltimore.  I wanted to take the boys to the National Aquarium.  Here they are petting horse shoe crabs and stingray.

There was also a tank full of jellyfish to pet.  Even though we got there right when they opened at 9 am, it was still busy.

I've always like these fish.  They seem friendly and kind of have a smiley look to them.

In the Amazon section.  This aquarium is huge and wraps around and around.  There is so much to see.

Maryland is well known for its crab cakes, so we had to take a break from the aquarium for lunch at Phillips.

Only Reid will eat crab cakes (despite Cort's drawing).  But he was suitably impressed.

After finishing up the aquarium, we found a fun playground.  Tunnels and merry go rounds.

And stretches of music making instruments.  We spent some time hanging out here.

As fun as it was, none of this was the boys' favorite thing we did in Baltimore.  Any guesses as to what was?  It'll surprise you.  Stay tuned!

  2. Baltimore's Inner Harbor is one of my favorite places to visit. It's only an hour south of us, so we can do it on a day between milkings. Next time you'll have to take tours of the ships and submarines that are moored there...I'd guess your boys would like it!

  3. I've never been there. That aquarium looks amazing! Baltimore may have to be on our list of places to visit. Did you go to a ballgame??

  6. So good to see a post from you today. Great pictures! I love the one of them holding up their colorings! You got good pictures of the fish, too. The playground looks awesome! You know how to find the best things! I can't wait to see what else you found that the boys love; I don't have a clue!

  9. How fun! I'm glad y'all had a good time.

Unless I'm mistaken, it looks like Reid is catching up close to Pierce's height.

  13. I love those instruments. We saw some in Savannah recently, and in Charlotte, North Carolina.

  14. Lisa, if you ever get to Chattanooga, take the family to the Tennessee aquarium. It's a spectacular place, and my kids loved it when they were the age of your kids. Also, it's in a safe, clean, heavily policed part of the city. You can stay at the original Chattanooga Choo Choo (super place) and it's just blocks away. In fact, they used to have a hotel room/aquarium package that was very affordable. Don't know if they still do.

  15. It sounds like you had a good visit to the aquarium. Sea creatures always amaze me. I think I might know your boys' favorite part of the trip since I cheated and already saw your most recent posts. Your decision to go to Baltimore was a hit!
